Powder coating uses an electrostatic process and curing to adhere the powder to the surface. Because the parts must undergo high temperatures to set the coating, the substrate must also be heat-resistant. However, most products coated with this finish are metal and easily hold up throughout the process.

The powder coating gun serves the purpose of electrically charging the powder and propelling it towards the parts you are powder coating. The amount it charges the powder is measured in KV/kilovolts (1,000 volts = 1 kilovolt). Cheaper guns have a pre-selected KV and more expensive guns allow you to choose.

A powder spray gun for spraying hard-facing alloys, ceramics and metals using oxygen and fuel gas. There are no moving parts in the spray gun.
